Gen.Kainerugaba Visits Ex-Israel PM Ariel Sharon’s Sons

Muhoozi with Gilad and Omri

First son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba last week visited the sons of former Israel Prime Minister Ariel Sharon at the family’s ranch in Negev Desert.

The Negev is a desert and semi desert region of southern Israel. The region’s largest city and administrative capital is Beersheba, in the north.

At its southern end is the Gulf of Aqaba and the resort city of Eilat.

It contains several development towns, including Dimona, Arad and Mitzpe Ramon, as well as a number of small Bedouin cities, including Rahat and Tel as-Sabi and Lakyah.

There are also several kibbutzim, including Revivim and Sde Boker; the latter became the home of Israel’s first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, after his retirement from politics.

Muhoozi who is also the Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations (Uganda) said it was “my great honour and privilege to visit with the two sons of the late great General Ariel Sharon at their farm in Israel”.

He said both men are very successful farmers in Israel.

“I thank Mr.Gilad and Mr.Omri for their time and the love they have for Uganda.”

Sharon was married twice, to two sisters, Margalit and Lily Zimmerman, who were from Romania.

Margalit was a supervisory psychiatric nurse. They had one son, Gur.

Margalit died in a car accident in May 1962 and Gur died in October 1967, aged 11, after a friend accidentally shot him while the two children were playing with a rifle at the Sharon family home.

After Margalit’s death, Sharon married her younger sister, Lily. They had two sons, Omri and Gilad, and six grandchildren. Lily Sharon died of lung cancer in 2000.

Sharon himself died on 11 January 2014 after spending eight years in a coma, at Sheba Medical Centre in Tel Aviv district.

Greatest General?

“Great Generals. The ‘Saviour of Israel’ on many occasions the irresistible, irrepressible, undefeatable General Ariel Sharon,” Muhoozi said in praise.

He added: “Thought by many to be amongst the greatest Generals in human history.”

Sharon served as the 11th Prime Minister of Israel from March 2001 until April 2006.

Sharon was a commander in the Israeli Army from its creation in 1948.
