‘Opposition Plan B’ Exposed: Besigye, Muntu & Tumukunde To Endorse Bobi Wine For President In 2021 General Elections

When Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) stalwart Rtd. Dr. Col. Kizza Besigye revealed a few months ago that he would not contest for presidency again in the 2021 election  but was to announce ‘Plan B’ very soon, many Ugandans didn’t realise what he meant.

But now analysts within Uganda’s political realm contend that he was actually in effect, officially announcing that he had surrendered the presidential race to Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

We have since established through political machinations within the ruling party that actually, it is not only Besigye who endorsed Bobi Wine as the 2021 presidential candidate but also Gen. Henry Tumukunde, Rtd. Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu of the Alliance for National Transformation.

According to National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobiliser and blogger Ashburg Katto, Besigye of FDC and Muntu of ANT, are both planning to rally behind Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform, as their Plan B, in a bid to claim victory in the 2021 General Election.

In his latest blog, Katto, a former People Power activist who officially crossed to NRM in May this year, asserts that Besigye’s much-anticipated ‘Plan B’ involves the four time presidential aspirant joining hands with ANT’s  Muntu and Tumukunde to rally behind Bobi Wine in the bid to defeat President Yoweri Museveni.

In the video that lasted approximately 15 minutes , the anxious looking social media personality claims that  Bobi Wine met Besigye six times and Muntu at least three times a few weeks towards launching NUP.

He goes on to claim that launching NUP was to hoodwink government about the ultimate goal of the possibility of major opposition leaders supporting Bobi Wine for President.

The controversial blogger, whom a month ago predicted that Bobi Wine’s former music promoter Andrew Mukasa aka Bajjo was to quit NUP and it happened, insists that three to two weeks towards  presidential nominations in November Bobi Wine will pull off the mother of all  shockers for his supporters and  join the biggest opposition party, the FDC and will be nominated as that party’s flag bearer.

“Besigye, Muntu and Tumukunde have in the past said during public interviews that they would be willing to support any joint opposition presidential candidate even if it was not them,” Katto says in the vlog.

Towards the end of his video Katto, who hints about his close association with intelligence and security organs, claims that four opposition leaders are aware that they might not defeat Museveni in the ballot box but want to use the election to spark off chain of chaotic events to distabilise the country.

It should remembered that at the launch of the United Forces of Change back in June, Bobi Wine is quoted to have said that coming together is the only option for opposition to defeat President Museveni next year.

“For the masses that have been calling upon our unification, yes we have been working together. We have been talking…and this that we are doing today is just yet another step in the right direction,” Bobi Wines said.

This will not be the first time  opposition forces are trying to have a joint candidate to compete against Museveni.

In 2001 almost all opposition candidates rallied behind Besigye’s Reform Agenda.

In 2011 they united under Ssuubi and 2016 there were joint efforts to have a single opposition presidential candidate under TDA.
