“NTV UGANDA IS A THIEF”: Senior Lawyer Slams Struggling Broadcaster, Calls For Sacking Of NMG Fat Cats

The dick in hand saga which aired live on the NTV Uganda Mix Show of Friday 25 June 2021 is a comedy of errors that started with a dubious ‘restructuring’ exercise on 25 March 2021 whereby competent experts were fired in favour of cheaper greenhorns and wannabes.

The whole shebang definitely got out of hand after Tony Glencross fired eagle-eyed veterans, leaving NTV Uganda Mix Show in the sweaty palms of 3 unqualified lackeys who couldn’t properly assess risk in broadcasting live events contributed by members of the audience.

Intoxicated by the patronage of Uganda Breweries Limited
, the brewers of BelI Lager, the NTV Uganda management couldn’t resist the temptation to unlawfully collect, process and use data from the ground- breaking app by Houseparty (part of Epic Games) which permits rascals to showcase videos of their debauchery and depravity.

The decision by NTV Uganda management and its sponsor Uganda Breweries Limited to broadcast data from Houseparty (part of Epic Games) was fatally flawed from the start, a rather crude and misguided attempt to spice up a boring TV show.

By cutting corners this way, NTV Uganda lost editorial rights to admit, reject and review certain aspects of the show as required of them Uganda Communications Commission
by under the Standards For General Broadcast Programming in Uganda (see document below.)

In so doing, the crooks at NTV Uganda flouted a myriad of principles in our Constitution, Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019, Uganda Communications Act 2013, Computer Misuse Act 2011, Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act 2006, to mention but a few.

Let’s not be fooled by NTV Uganda’s non-apology-apology in the wake of this scandal

Here’s why it should be rejected:

An innocent “producer” and “director” have been made scapegoats for the station’s failure in blindly embracing wacky ideas from a risqué DJ and his brewery backers. The poor lackeys have been summarily dismissed without justification or due process simply because they are expendable.
NTV Uganda made no apology for stealing data from Houseparty (part of Epic Games) for profit, nor for breaching Uganda’s minimum broadcasting standards. (As highlighted in the document below.)
Therefore Uganda Communications Commission and
Nation Media Group should not let boardroom fat cats like MD Tony Glencross, GM Johnson Omolo and head of programmes, Robert Mawerere to pass the buck for the “dick in hand” scandal to underpaid, sleep-deprived minnows and studio rats.

The buck should stop with them, bosses!
