Victoria University’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga Awarded “Honorary Professor” Title Of The Academic Union Of Oxford

Victoria University Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Lawrence Muganga has been awarded the Honorary Professor of the Academic Union of Oxford for his unwavering efforts in transforming the educational sector in the country, amidst the covid-19 pandemic.

“We are pleased to inform you that you have been awarded the title of Honorary Professor of the Academic Union of Oxford with permanent membership in the Advisory Council of the Academic Union,” Ms. Anna-Julia May, the OAU Programme Coordinator said in a letter addressed to the prolific academic guru.

Dr. Muganga has also been invited by the Union as a speaker at the Oxford “University of the Future” science debate happening this Friday, December 17, 2021, where he is expected to discuss ‘Victoria University’s transformational education that has impacted the education and lifestyle of students plus a prospective overview of its further development to revolutionalise the sector.

“We invite you. as a renowned professional, to take part in the Oxford Debate on December 17, 2021, as an expert Speaker. Your feedback on key topics of this year’s discussion will be very useful for professional educators worldwide,” the letter reads further.

The purpose of the Oxford Debate is to accumulate, keep and popularize different points of view on the future of higher education, exchange innovative experiences and promote global cooperation for educational institutions.

According to the letter, the Speaking Notes from Debate participants shall be published in the scientific collection ‘University of the Future (ISSN 2053-4736)’ creating a library of information references for future academicians.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Express about the Professor Award, Dr. Muganga enthusiastically urged the government through the Education Ministry and other education governing bodies to embrace the changing trends in learning and adapt to the pace of developing countries if the education standards in the country are to change for the better.

He added that Government shouldn’t deny the opportunity by private stakeholders to develop the country through transformation learning methods as the world over is propagating digital literacy and learning schemes to bolster education in higher institutions.

Muganga also tasked the government through the ICT Ministry to invest heavily in technologies and subsidise the internet for the good since education is now taking a shape to be a virtual learning experience, which relies heavily on internet and technology tools.
