The year 2023 has been a roller coaster ride for Ugandans and the rest of the world.
The year has seen its fair share of ups and downs.
In 2023, many historic events occurred. While some positively shaped Uganda and the world, others had a negative impact. But one thing is certain: 2023 has been an eventful year.
As the year comes to a close in just a few hours left, many Ugandans are eager to put the events of 2023 behind them and welcome the year 2024.
But, before Uganda greets the New Year, here is a list of some countries that have already crossed into 2024.
1. New Zealand
New Zealand is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean that consists of two main landmasses, the North and the South Island. Wellington, New Zealand will enter 2024 in today’s evening at 9pm.
2. Fiji
The Republic of Fiji is an island country in the South Pacific Oceanic, with its capital in Suva. It will enter 2024 in today’s evening at 5pm.
3. Japan
Japan is an island country in East Asia situated in the northwest Pacific Ocean. It enters the new year this evening at 6pm.
4. Singapore
The Republic of Singapore is a sovereign island country and city-state in maritime Southeast Asia. It will enter 2024 this evening at 5pm.
5. North Korea
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is an eastern Asian country. The country shares borders with China, Russia and South Korea. North Korea welcomes the year 2024 at 4pm.
6. Japan
Japan is an island country in Eastern Asia, situated in the northwest Pacific Ocean. The country’s new year starts at 4 pm.
7. South Korea
South Korea, a country in East Asia, enters the new year at 6pm in Uganda.
8. China
The People’s Republic of China is the most populous country with a population of 1.4 billion people. The country welcomes the new year at 7pm in Uganda.
9. Indonesia
Indonesia is a country in Southeast Asia and Oceania between the Indian and Pacific oceans. The country is 9 hours ahead of Uganda and will welcome the new year by 8pm Ugandan time.
10. Russia
Russia is a transcontinental country spanning Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. Moscow, Russia will welcome the new year by the time it is 11pm Ugandan time.
