Heart Breaking: I Was Kidnapped From Kenya-Frustrated Don Nasser Begs For Bail After Terrifying Prison Ordeal

Kampala businessman and socialite Nasser Nduhukire, popularly known as Don Nasser, has petitioned the High Court’s International Crimes Division to grant him bail, citing multiple grounds, including allegations of being kidnapped in Nairobi, Kenya.

Nduhukire, who faces charges of aggravated child trafficking and defilement alongside his co-accused Promise Ateete, argued through his legal team that bail is his constitutional right and that he should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

In his application, the businessman highlighted that the court has the authority to grant bail at any stage of proceedings, emphasizing that his case qualifies for such consideration. He presented himself as a long-term resident of Kira Municipality, with stable residence and credible sureties to ensure his compliance with court directives.

In a sworn affidavit, Nduhukire recounted that during a business trip to Nairobi on September 20, 2024, he was abducted and subsequently transported back to Uganda without due legal process. He stated that he was detained at Kira Road Police Station for three days before being arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Buganda Road on September 23, where he was remanded to Luzira Prison.

Nduhukire also expressed concern over delays in trial proceedings, noting that older cases often take precedence in scheduling, reducing the likelihood of his trial being heard soon.

Justice Andrew Bashaija, who is presiding over the case, directed the prosecution to submit an affidavit in response by December 6. The defense team is expected to file any rejoinders by December 10, while the state must submit its reply by December 13. If necessary, the defense can submit further responses by December 17. The court set December 18 for a review of the submissions and examination of witnesses.

The prosecution accuses Nduhukire and Ateete of using manipulation or abuse of authority to exploit a 16-year-old girl for sexual purposes between May 23 and May 27, 2024. The alleged incidents occurred at multiple locations, including Acacia Avenue, Tagore Apartments on Mawanda Road in Kampala, and Kito Zone in Wakiso District.

The charge sheet further alleges that Ateete facilitated the unlawful sexual encounter by procuring the minor for Nduhukire. Both accused individuals continue to deny the charges as the court deliberates their bail application.
