In a heartfelt homecoming, Elison Karuhanga paid tribute to two towering legal figures whose legacies continue to shape Uganda’s legal profession and inspire future generations.

Surrounded by the warmth and grace of Kisoro’s community, Karuhanga honored the late Justice Herbert Ntabgoba and Justice Joseph Mulenga, whose unparalleled contributions to law and justice resonate far beyond their lifetimes.

The event served as both a celebration and reflection on the extraordinary lives of these legal trailblazers. Justice Herbert Ntabgoba, Uganda’s first Principal Judge, was remembered for his fearless judgments and dedication to judicial independence. His work as Administrator General, Official Receiver, and Director General of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) solidified his reputation as a defender of integrity and excellence in public service.

Justice Joseph Mulenga, a distinguished Supreme Court Justice, was lauded for his monumental contributions to Uganda’s 1995 Constitution, his service as Attorney General, and his leadership as President of the East African Court of Justice. A champion of fairness and a visionary for the rule of law, Justice Mulenga left an indelible mark on the judiciary and the nation.

Karuhanga, who observed both legal giants during their time at Kampala Associated Advocates, shared personal insights into their unwavering dedication to mentoring young lawyers and shaping the future of the legal profession. “They were more than just leaders ,they were pioneers, visionaries, and mentors who embodied the highest ideals of the law,” he said.

As Karuhanga campaigns for a position on the Judicial Service Commission, he reaffirmed his commitment to uphold the values these men championed. “Their courage, intellect, and integrity remind us that the law is not just a profession it is a calling. We are inspired to build a legal profession that is bold, inclusive, and guided by the highest ideals,” he stated.

The day in Kisoro concluded with a renewed sense of purpose for Uganda’s legal community. Karuhanga emphasized the importance of honoring the past while shaping a future that ensures justice for all. “Their legacy isn’t just a story to tell it’s a light to guide us forward. Their spirit of justice and freedom lives on in all of us who were inspired by their lives,” he declared.

As Kisoro bid farewell to Karuhanga and his team, the message was clear: the legacies of Justice Ntabgoba and Justice Mulenga will continue to inspire generations, reminding Uganda of the transformative power of courage, integrity, and justice.
