The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) and Congolese Forces forces have confirmed this through a statement.

The capture of 34 Allied for Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in joint military operations against the IS-liked terrorist movement in Eastern DRC happened at the close of the week when the forces advanced on the camps occupied by the rebel forces.

According to a statement released by the UPDF spokesperson Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso, the army has been at Mukakati Forward Operating Base for a week, carrying out other military activities that enhance combat readiness against ADF terrorists.

However, she noted that their preliminary results of the airstrike and artillery of November 30 indicate that 31 Congolese hostages were released and four enemy camps destroyed.

Also, the UPDF Engineering Brigade working with FARDC has embarked on opening up the impassable stretch of the main supply route from Mukakati UPDF Forward Operating Base (FOB) up to ease passage through R.Semilik Bridge.

According to UPDF, the dilapidated and narrow stretch of 14kms had slowed down the advance of the UPDF ground offensive against ADF terrorists.
