Just In! Stella Nyanzi Arrested

Dr. Stella Nyanzi was arrested Monday morning as she went to attend Buganda Road Court for a hearing where Andrew Mukasa alias Bajjo, Abbey Musinguzi aka Abtex, Abdul Kikomeko and Aloysius Matovu are accused of disobeying presidential orders.

Bajjo, who had been released on bail, was also rearrested as he pleaded with police officers to let Dr. Nyanzi free, said Matovu.

According to Matovu, the boisterous academic is being held at Central Police Station in Kampala as Investigations continue.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesman Luke Owoyesigire said he did not have information on the arrest.

His boss, Patrick Onyango, was not immediately available for comment.

Stella Nyanzi (born 16 June 1974) is a Ugandan medical anthropologist, feminist, queer rights activist, and scholar of sexuality, family planning, and public health.

She was first arrested in 2017 for insulting president Museveni.
