Panic: 5 Hotels Closed In Mbarara City After Three Clients Tested Positive Of Covid-19

Ministry of Health officials in Mbarara city have closed five hotels due to coronavirus disease.

Hotels like Rwampara Suites,Leisure Park International Hotel,Golden Monkey,Africa Guest house and Acacia have suspended services and workers quarantined for 14 days after hosting positive Covid-19 guests.

Mbarara District Health Officer Dr.Peter Ssebutinde revealed that a staff of Uganda Revenue Authority who is suspected to be positive and member of COVID-19 task force at Bunagana border Kisoro slept with a girlfriend at Acacia hotel.

Another case is a money changer at Mutukula border who moved from Tanzania -Uganda border  with out official clearance and when he reached Mbarara he slept at Leisure Park International hotel before he changed to Golden Monkey in Kijungu Nyamityobora.

At Golden Monkey he booked one room and enjoyed a night with a girl friend. After the guests testing positive of covid-19, authorities in Mbarara decided to quarantine all workers of these hotels.

All patients were transferred to Mbarara Regional referral hospital for treatment whereas samples of their contacts have been taken for examination and quarantined at Rwetanga Farm Institute.

The government officials have begun to get concerned over the increasing number of community infections.
