Six Staff of Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) have tested positive for COVID-19.

UNRA , on Monday afternoon released a statement revealing that five staff at the headquarters in Nakawa tested positive while one staff member at the Authority’s Masindi office tested positive for COVID-19

The confirmed cases are from 494 samples taken August 19 and 20, 2020 for which results for 222 samples have been received.

The results come from a decision taken by UNRA to conduct testing of staff for COVID-19 as a proactive measure to detect and prevent the spread of the virus and to offer adequate support to staff in a timely manner.

“Upon confirmation of the mentioned cases, Management, together with the Ministry of Health have since rolled out the respective incident management protocols and the much-needed health support system that will include psychosocial services to our affected members of staff currently under medical care,” the statement reads in part.

“We appeal to all our clients and the general public to continue practicing proper health hygiene as advised by the Ministry of Health including regular washing of hands, wearing facemasks, avoiding close contact and refraining from shaking hands among others,” the statement continues.

UNRA now joins a list of other government agencies to confirm Covid-19 infections.
