NRM Primaries: Police Registered Over 278 Criminal Cases

A total of 278 criminal cases were registered in the recently concluded NRM primaries ranging from murder, unlawful possession of guns among others. Uganda Police Force has said.

This was revealed by Charles Twiine the Criminal Investigations Department Spokesperson while addressing the media in Wednesday September 16, 2020.

“Of the above stated cases, costed lives, there were murder cases but the good news is that at least the police was vigorous in assembling evidence and also apprehending the perpetrators of those crimes, “he said.

He also noted a total of 269 people were arrested during the entire process and confirmedconfirmed that all perpetrators will be brought to book.

According to Atwiine, Western Uganda as the hotspot of electoral violence during the primaries between 17th August and 5th September where six people died after sustaining bodily injuries as a result of election violence and criminalities.

He added that East Kyoga registered 35 cases, Rwenzori West 31 Kampala Metropolitan police (South) 24 cases, Busoga East 21, Bukedi registered 15, Greate Bushenyi, 12 among others.
