A group of greater Bushenyi residents has blasted West Ankole Diocese laity Willis Bashasha, Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni, ministers led by Dean Wilson Tumuhirwe and John Mark of Kaburegye Church of Uganda in Ishaka of dividing Christians along political lines in the recent NRM primaries.

This has come after Christians led by Zeddy Kwikiriza and Welden Taremwa accused the said church leaders who have been using their positions to campaign for some candidates which angered a section of Christians in West Ankole Diocese.

Concerned Christians have lashed at the former Bushenyi district Local Council five (LCV) chairman, Willis Bashasha current  Director Manifesto implementation of the ruling party NRM of being arrogant and selfish.

“We cannot allow such people to divide  us in politics to because we are all Christians of West Ankole Diocese,” they said.

They added that such leaders who are dividing should relinquish all the position of leadership in Bushenyi and Uganda as whole.

Mr.Bashasha and some Church leaders have kept abusing a section of Christians in the Diocese under their umbrella “Save West Ankole” who accused Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni of endorsing a group of politicians against the other.

In his response to the challenges facing the Diocese,Mr.Bashasha said such issues are “pittiness” which led Christians bitter with his attitude and adamancy to resolve such sensitivity matters.

It is said that the accused team has been supporting Annet Katusiime the wife to NSWC managing director Eng.Silver Mugisha who recently stood for Bushenyi woman Mp position on NRM ticket against Minister Mary Karoro Okurut.

Recently, Bushenyi District NRM chairperson Hajji Hassan Basajjabala , Minister Karoro blasted West Ankole Diocese political aspirants who have started dividing people basing on religious lines, politics of hate and discrimination with intention to grow their political capital.

Hon Karoro said politics should not be a do or die thus asked politicians to exhibit tolerance other than spreading hatred which might escalate to bloodshed among the voters.

According to Hon Karoro Okurut these normally pretend to be speaking to Museveni on phone whenever they are meeting their electorates when in actual sense they are speaking to a totally different person.

As the political pressure gears up, some political aspirants have since embarked on underground ways of soliciting for support from voters to allow them sail through in the coming polls.

In Bushenyi district, these aspirants have started using politics of hate, discrimination basing in religions with intentions to grow their political base.

By press time, Willis Bashasha could not pick up our calls for a comment.
