Tears, Jubilation As Sodo Kaguta Defeats Kutesa’s Daughter In Hotly Contested Mawogola North Primaries

Reports from Mawogoola North in Sembabule district indicate that President Museveni’s brother Sodo Aine Kaguta is in comfortable lead against Shartsi Musherure Namatovu the daughter of Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kahamba Kuteesa.

According to results released by the Sembabule District NRM Electoral Commission Returning Officer Katokozi William, Sodo Aine Kaguta is leading with 46.30% from 6 sub counties against Namatovu’s 42.17% while Salim Kisseka is trailing with 11.53% of the total votes.

The Mawogoola North NRM primary elections were postponed for several times after election erupted between the supporters of the two strong rivals from powerful families.

There have also been reports of importing goons from outside Sembabule to come and cause chaos in the election.

The constituency today finally went to polls amid heavy security deployment where the deputy inspector general of police Maj Gen Muzeyi Sabiti camped in the district.

None residents were no allowed access to the district during the polling process.
