Disgruntled: UPDF Section Commander Commits Suicide

A joint team of security in Hoima district has started investigating circumstances under a Uganda Peoples Defence Forces ‘UPDF’  soldier took off his own life.

UPDF Spokesperson Brig Flavia Byekwaso revealed that Corporal Wilson Kalyango, 40, a section commander in the 13 battalions, 303 brigade committed suicide on Monday in Nyakasenene village, Nzorobi parish, Kabaale sub-county.

”Its unfortunate that we lost one of our experienced soldiers  in a suicide mission,we are with his family which is going through a difficult situation”she said.

Police and military officers visited the scene for evidence gathering and a gun containing 26 rounds of ammunition and two cartridges were recovered.

It has been established that Corporal Kalyango went missing on 4th November with 130 bullets and a gun after a military parade until he resurrected by shooting himself in the head.

His body is currently kept at Hoima City mortuary where a post-mortem was done as UPDF prepares a descent final send off.
