In the spirit of giving back to underprivileged members of the community, Kampala International School Uganda (KISU) on Thursday, 10th December, hosted a team from Hope For Katanga Kids Project to receive Christmas gifts donated by the school, students and parents under the KISU Shoebox Project.

Earlier in the week, KISU started receiving and packaging gifts in boxes ahead of the delivery to Hope For Katanga Kids Project, a local non-government organization that strives to provide basic necessities, education, and family empowerment to underprivileged kids in and around Katanga slum.

Among the gifts that were donated to the organization are food, soap, sanitary pads, Vaseline, clothes, toiletries and scholastic materials. “We successfully handed over the shoebox project gifts to the Hope for Katanga Kids Projects team who were so overwhelmed by the love & hard work our students poured into the activity,” KISU said in a statement.

Last year, KISU again extended their giving had to Hope For Katanga Kids Project with similar Christmas donations. Unlike this year where the event was restricted due to COVID19 pandemic, last year, kids from both institutions played and had meals together.

Hope for Katanga Kids Project aims to assist, empower and educate the underprivileged youth in Katanga Slum. Located in one of Kampala’s most prominent slums, Hope for Katanga Kids Project sets out to give kids an alternative to the risks of growing up in a slum.
