Grief: Alhajj Kivejinja Dies Of Covid-19 At Mulago Hospital

Second Deputy Prime Minister Kirunda Kivejinja is dead. Kivejinja passed away at Mulago National Referral Hospital where he has been admitted for over one month now after he tested positive for COVID-19.

The 84-year old becomes the highest-ranking official to succumb to the virus.

Faruk Kirunda the deceased’s son confirmed the news noting that Kirunda had passed on in Mulago hospital.

“It’s true he is dead. He passed away at Mulago National referral Hospital,” Kivejinja’s son said.

Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda also announced Kivejinja’s death.

“We have learnt with deep sadness the passing on of our elder, friend and comrade, Second Deputy PM Kivejinja. His passing is huge loss to the country, of a great Pan Africanist & repository of our history and journey of social, political and economic transformation.”(NV)
