Residents of Kagongo division in Ibanda municipality, Ibanda district are in shock following the abrupt death of their LC3 chairperson, Aggrey Mushabe.

Mushabe was involved in an accident on Kashuku Road in Bufunda division on his way from Ibanda University at 11:00 am on Monday and died on spot.

The 44-year-old was sworn in on Tuesday last week for his second term in office as the Kagongo division chairperson. The educationist was also the director of Greater Nursery and Primary school in Ibanda municipality.

According to the eyewitnesses, Mushabe was riding his official motorcycle LG 002861 when he was knocked down by a speeding Canter fighter car registration number UAY 749S.

SP Emily Angomoku, the Ibanda district Police commander blamed the accident on human error as a result of speeding. She said the deceased was taken to Ruhoko Health centre1V for post-mortem.

“The driver of the lorry was driving at a very high speed yet speaking on phone. Unfortunately, Mushabe was knocked and died on spot,” said Angomoku.

‘We have always advised people not to talk on the phone while driving, but some have failed to heed. Such accidents wouldn’t occur,’ she added.

Johnson Kanyomoza, the Bisheshe Division chairperson, described the accident as unfortunate.

‘Mushabe was a very hard-working individual who had his area and development at heart. I last talked to him yesterday. We shall miss him so much,’ Kanyomoza said.

Mushabe survived by one wife and five children
