Rukungiri Boda-Boda Rider Murdered In Cold Blood

Police in Rukungiri district is investigating the death of a 30-year-old bodaboda rider who is believed to have been murdered over unclear circumstances.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson identified the deceased as Aryatunga Junior a resident of Kyamurari 2 village, Kigaga parish in Nyakagyeme sub-county Rukungiri district.

Maate added that Aryatunga on 30th July 2021 at around 4pm returned home and handed over his motorcycle to his mother, and moved to the nearby Kyamurari trading center where he was cited socializing with yet to be identified friends but never returned home again.

According to The Informer UG, the deceased mother, Bazimbwa Jasper, said she waited for Aryatunga until Saturday morning at around 7Am when his body was discovered dead in the compound of their elder brother’s newly constructed home Ahereza Brian 32, a businessman of the same address who urgently allerted police.

The area police led by D/ASP Nasuuna Harriet and team visited the scene and the Police doctor examined the body before handing it over to the relatives for burial.

According to Maate, inquiries have already commenced and two people who were last seen with the deceased have been arrested for questioning.

The case of murder by assault has been registered at Rukungiri Central Police Station under reference number CRB 1175/2021.
