Members of Parliament (MPs) from different political parties have expressed their dissatisfaction with the consortium that was set up by the law to advise political groups called the National Consultative Forum, saying that it has done nothing towards the improvement of politicians in the country like it was expected.
Richard Ssebamala, the MP representing Bukoto Central, said that Godfrey Ssuubi Kiwanda should first separate the works of the National Consultative Forum with the Inter-Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) Uganda.
Ssebamala added that the IPOD covered the work of the National Consultative Forum, which was not good, cautioning Kiwanda not to think that the position he was appointed to is for the NRM but for all political parties and should listen to all Members of Parliament.
President Museveni on Thursday, October 31, 2024, appointed Kiwanda as the consortium chair, replacing Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda.
These changes were announced during the NRM Central Executive Council (CEC) at State House Entebbe.
According to Emmanuel Lumala Dombo, the NRM Director of Information and Publicity, what is left is to give Kiwanda his appointment letter to begin work.
He further noted that Ruhakana Rugunda’s team in office expired; that is why the president appointed Kiwanda.(nexus)
