Uganda is in mourning following the death of Engineer Daniel Ssebugwawo, husband to Hon. Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo, State Minister for ICT and National Guidance. A revered figure in engineering, education, and community development, Daniel passed away on December 20, 2024, at 89 years old.
Born on December 23, 1934, Engineer Ssebugwawo was just days away from his 90th birthday. He succumbed to cancer, with his final years marked by resilience and strength. His loss has left an indelible void in both his family and the nation.
Ssebugwawo’s legacy is a story of ambition and impact. A founding member of Nkumba University, he played a significant role in shaping Uganda’s education landscape. As a landlord with extensive properties in Naalya, his vision contributed to the growth of one of Kampala’s most prominent suburbs.
Those who knew him describe him as a man of unwavering principles, dedication, and humility. His professional accomplishments were paralleled by a life devoted to his family. His love story with Hon. Joyce Ssebugwawo began in 1963, blossoming into a marriage that spanned nearly six decades. Their partnership, forged in London in 1965, was one of mutual respect and shared dreams.
