Kazo District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Jeniffer Muheesi, in collaboration with Yoshuwa Living Water, a China-based company, has successfully completed a multi-million shilling clean water project for St. Catherine Girls Secondary School and the surrounding community.
The project, which replaces contaminated dam water with a safe and reliable source, will officially be handed over in a grand ceremony on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the school.
For years, students and local residents have relied on unsafe water sources, often shared with livestock, exposing them to waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid. The new clean water system is expected to improve hygiene, reduce illness, and enhance the overall well-being of both the school and the neighboring community.
Hon. Muheesi emphasized that this initiative is not just about health, but also about empowering students, especially girls, by removing barriers to education.

“This project is not just about water—it’s about dignity, health, and creating an environment where girls can thrive academically,” she stated.
She highlighted how access to clean water will reduce absenteeism among students, allowing them to focus on their studies without the burden of fetching water from distant, unsafe sources.
Hon. Muheesi has long been an advocate for girl-child education, aiming to elevate St. Catherine Girls Secondary School to the ranks of top-performing institutions such as Maryhill High School, Bweranyangi Girls, and Kibubura Girls.
She believes that infrastructure projects like this are essential in helping young girls succeed academically and build a better future.

Beyond the school, the project will also benefit the entire community, ensuring that families, traders, and farmers have access to a sustainable and safe water source. Local leaders have expressed their gratitude, noting that this project is a long-awaited solution to a problem that has affected the region for decades.
“Our children won’t have to miss school because of cholera or typhoid anymore,” said one parent, emphasizing the life-changing impact of this initiative.
The success of this project is credited to the strong partnership between Hon. Muheesi and Yoshuwa Living Water, which provided the technical expertise and funding necessary for the installation of modern water purification systems.
This collaboration highlights the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing developmental challenges and improving the quality of life for communities in need.
The handover ceremony is expected to be a colorful event attended by dignitaries, community members, and stakeholders. The general public has been invited to witness this historic occasion, which marks a major milestone in Hon. Muheesi’s commitment to education and community welfare.
As St. Catherine Girls Secondary School moves forward with this new infrastructure, it is poised for greater achievements. With continued support, the school is set to become a model institution, proving that access to clean water is a fundamental step in empowering the next generation.
The event on March 15 promises to be a celebration of progress, unity, and the power of collective effort in driving positive change.
