The artist arrived in Kenya on Tuesday morning to promote his new album Break the Chains and after a brief press conference, he embarked on a media tour.
While appearing on Kiss FM’s one of the oldest radio stations in Kenya on Wednesday, the artist decried Nairobi’s traffic which he said that unlike Uganda, this can’t be avoided.
“In Uganda you can get a lead car and move like a VIP but in Nairobi, you have to sit through the traffic whether you want it or not,” he said in a conversation with Muchina and Cyd, the presenters.
While in Nairobi, videos of the artist visiting different media houses have been making rounds with the best being him with a group of students from Mitaboni Abc Girls School singing the song.
in an interview with Remmy Majala on K24’s Amka Vibe Check, he says that he worked with Joshua Baraka to introduce him to his older generation fanbase and for Baraka in turn to introduce Bebe to the Gen-Z audience.
Besides Bebe Cool’s media campaign however, a lot has been taking place outside Nairobi and one of these is him debuting on BBC 1Xtra on Monday.Bebe Cool and Joshua Baraka’s Check on Monday made its debut on DJ Edu’s official mix on BBC 1Xtra.
The song which has since proven to be a favourite for many received a refix as it made its debut. DJ Edu remixes the song and gives it an urban London electronic music sound, making it even more palatable for a wider audience.
But this is not the first time Bebe Cool and Edu’s BBC 1Xtra are crossing paths, the first time may have been 2015, when Bebe Cool’s rendition of Philly Lutaaya’s Born in Africa was ranked as one of the best songs from the continent.
Then they collaborated on Games, one of the songs on Break the Chains and now this, debuting Check, also on the album on his show.
So far, many media personalities in Kenya pick Check, Motivation and African Love alongside Yemi Alade as their biggest songs on the album.Bebe Cool’s African tour started in Kenya and soon, he will be headed to Tanzania and later Rwanda, South Africa and Nigeria among others.
