Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party President and a three time presidential contender Dr. Kiiza Besigye’ now leading a pressure group ‘People’s Government’ had by December 1, 2019 gathered over 903,004 signatures supporting his petition to the International Crimes Court (ICC).

According to Besigye, the petition intends to back up his evidence that President Museveni and his senior military officials committed crimes against humanity.

“These signatures, clandestinely collected by a highly dedicated and fearless team have been received at a central collection center, where verification is done, copies scanned and secured,” said Ronald Muhinda, Besigye’s aide.

Muhinda added that that the online petition has been blocked when 4,500 people had signed.

Nevertheless, he said that one can use VPN to sign the online petition.

“With exception of Kasese and Ntungamo where Police and army invaded FDC offices and confiscated forms, other teams in various districts have gone underground, the method People’s Government warriors know best,” Muhinda said.

“As of now, only signing of physical Petition forms remains the only method through which signatures are acquired after blocking the Online Petition. To sign Online Petition from Uganda, there is a recommendation to use VPN to bypass the blockade. It has been proved that VPN works,” he added.

Muhinda added that although the ruling government keeps calling the exercise comedy, it has scared President Museveni.

“Let’s keep signing Petition. The pressure is on. The ICC Petition was launched by People’s Government to cause the International court to Investigate, try and indict Museveni and accomplices for serious crimes and Crimes against humanity,” he added.
