Security has contained a planned Makindye Ssabagabo council meeting after the councilors attempted to demonstrate over what termed continued arrests, detention, torture of opposition members and supporters plus continued hike in fuel prices.

About 25 opposition councilors had earlier in the morning converged at Makindye-Ssabagabo council head quarters from Kampala along Entebbe road off Namasuba to Ndejje-Zanta in preparations for the demonstration.
However, trouble started when they started shouting holding placards to go to roads. Security team which was on alert intervened in the matter before the demonstration could escalate.

A number of T-shirts and other negative materials with different inscriptions against govt impounded and one notorious councilor Ssekyanzi representing Lweza A and B arrested and taken in police cells at Katwe Division police for interview.

Majority of these councilors who had participated in the aborted demonstration were from the National Unity Platform’NUP’.
