The National Unity Platform (NUP) party president Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobiwine was at the weekend forced to cut his speech short at a burial in Budada District after mourners  started heckling him over remarks he made on deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa.

The burial was of Henry Masolo Enrico, the father of opposition chief  whip John Baptist Nambeshe in Burenga village, who succumbed to cancer early last week.

Deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa was first to deliver a clear message from government of Uganda to mourners.

Rt Hon. Tayebwa reminded all Ugandans including Bobi Wine and his group that even though they come from different political groups, it was necessary to prioritize the needs of the people.

“We may not agree politically but we need to work for the wellbeing of our people,” he said.

He added“There are things like the Parish Development Model which will benefit all our people irrespective of the party they support.”

However, trouble started after Kyagulanyi addressed mourners, accusing Tayebwa of torture when he was caught on camera, beating up an employee of Umeme in 2020.

Kyagulanyi said whereas Tayebwa apologised to the employee of Umeme and compensated him, he should apologise to the nation.

Bobiwine remarks drew alot of booing and heckling from the mourners for disrupting burial arrangements with cheap politicking. His speech was put on halt after several MPs, both from NRM and the opposition were not happy with his irrelevant utterances at the function.

Mourners told Kyagulanyi in cheers that if deputy speaker Tayebwa delivered government’s message  was then, there was no need of criticizing and Politicizing every matter.

They also told him to always do research before he comes to speak on public functions.

“Bobiwine should learn to always first research before he comments, we wonder why hejust talks any how, what does it cost him to first research before commenting? If he knows that he wants to be a future leader he should make sure that he cleans his path otherwise you will end up being paid the same way like a laughing stock”, a group of unhappy mourners told Bobiwine.
