Uganda’s reputation for hosting major international events has been further bolstered an exciting announcement.

The Miss Planet International director, Pedro Fransisco confirmed that Kampala, Uganda is the official host city for the Miss Planet International event which will run from November 6-20th 2022.

This will be the first time that a mega international beauty pageant will be hosted on Ugandan soil, watched by millions of viewers worldwide.

The opportunity will attract more than 65 participating countries, an opportunity to support the tourism sector, and put the global spotlight on Uganda.

The event also intends to attract visitors from all over the world, including first time visitors and a watershed moment to inspire girls and women with empowerment programs that target the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

It should be noted that early modelling from Destination Marketing Stats estimates that the event could bring more than half a billion dollars in new revenue to Uganda’s tourism sector during the two week event and in the years following, depending on the number of beauty queen’s destination visits within the country.

Uganda will be represented on stage by newly crowned Cynthia Achieng, Miss Planet Uganda 2022.
