Heartless: Senior Police Officer Murders Girlfriend,Dumps Body In Lugogo Manhole

Police at Jinja Road have arrested one of their own at the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police ‘ASP’ on allegations of murdering his fiance.

While addressing a weekly media briefing, police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga identified the suspect as ASP  Joseph Wandera who is accused of strangling a one Ssuubi Busingye on 5th, December while returning home from partying at Kyadondo Rugby club, Lugogo.

Preliminary investigations reveal that after the incident,the suspect walked to the police station claiming that his girlfriend had slipped and fallen into one of the open manholes next to the UMEME transformer along the Jinja road at around 2:00 am.

“When he reported the matter at police, we sent the homicide team, but when they reached the scene , detectives found that there were several blood stains around the manhole and her shoes were scattered around the place which raised suspecion that there could be a foul play”,he said.

Enanga added that the scene of the crime had traces of evidence that there was a fight between the suspect and the deceased.

“The body was recovered in the channel around 1 kilometer away towards Bugolobi, being swept by the water, and taken to the city mortuary.When the postpartum was carried out, it was found that she died as a result of strangulation, he stressed.

So far findings show that the two lovers developed misunderstandings along the way because the deceased threatened to quit the relationship resulting into a deadly fight.

Enanga condemned the act of heartlessness from such a senior police officer who is supposed to protect life and property of Ugandans.

ASP Wandera will this week be arraigned in court and charged with account of murder.
