The Law Development Center (LDC) has terminated its Academic Registrar Everest Turyahikayo who is allegedly accused by several female students of sexual misconduct.

The institution said Turyahikayo was found guilty of gross misconduct as provided for under Order 8.1.3 of the LDC Standing Orders, 2017, on grounds of unprofessional and unethical conduct unbecoming of an Academic Registrar.

“Turyahikayo is accordingly dismissed with immediate effect from the service of LDC pursuant to Order 8.2.4 (e0 pf the LDC Standing Orders, 2017.”

The decision was arrived at in a meeting by the LDC’s management committee in respect of the various disciplinary proceedings.

Turyahikayo had been interdicted in September this year when investigations into his alleged sexual harassment of female students first surfaced.

The details of the accusations were not disclosed by the LDC and it was also not confirmed how many students came out to accuse him.

Meanwhile, in the same meeting, the LDC also fired Ms. Mary Nakigozi, an assistant academic registrar who was accused among others of soliciting money from students to alter their examination results in their favour.

Nakigozi was also interdicted for three months pending inquiries.

The LDC said she was “found guilty of gross misconduct as provided for under Order 8.1.3 of the LDC Standing Orders, 2017, on grounds of failure to professionally and ethically discharge the responsibilities and high standards required for her office in management and processing of examination results.”

Leonard Ssozi, assistant academic registrar, also resigned from the LDC as his contract of employment was expiring on 31st December 2022, and was not renewed
