Senior UPDF Officer’s Son Commits Suicide In River Nile Over Love

A son to a UPDF Major committed suicide by drowning in River Nile on Christmas Day.

Frank Baale, 25, who was an employee of Top Betting Company, was found floating on River Nile at near Nalubale Bridge on Wednesday.

He is the son of Maj Alex Bwanika, who was attached to the UPDF Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Workshop, Magamaga.

Kiira Region Police spokesperson, Diana Nandaula, on Thursday told Daily Monitor that Baale left a suicide note saying he had failed to buy land and construct a house at 25.

Monitor also reported that Baale was given money to construct a house but ended up squandering it in sports betting parlours.

Police took the body to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem before handing it over to relatives for burial in Lugazi.edge
