Thumbs Up: Speaker Anita Among Wins Big As President Museveni Signs More 5 Bills Into Law

One would refer to this as a great achievement to the August house most especially to the speaker of parliament as President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni signs on Six (6) bills including the Anti- Homosexuality Bill 2023 which dominated the rest of the bills in the media.

The six (6) bills which were signed into law include: –

The Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023: This was the most catching Bill which dominated the media including the international community, which reacted to it.

The Museum and Monuments ACT-2023, which provides for the development, management, maintenance, and protection of national, natural, and cultural monuments, heritage, and works of art. The Act provides for the preservation and protection of the country’s historical monuments, objects, and sites.

The Uganda Human organ donation and Transplant ACT-2023: In this Bill, it provides an enabling legal regime to save a life through the donation and transplant of human body organs, tissues, and cells legally, ethically, and professionally.

In the wake of healthcare advancement that has seen the rise of organ donation and transplants. This will enable Ugandans to freely donate, and carry out organ transplants within a legal framework.The Market Act-2023, which provides for the establishment, management, admiration, and regulation of both public and private markets by addressing the core areas of categorization, licensing, registration, and market dues. With this Act, there will be a market administrator for every market, who shall be appointed by the respective authority.

The microfinance deposit-taking Institutions (Amendment) ACT, 2023: This creates an enabling legal regime for Islamic banking, agency banking, ban assurance and special access to the credit reference Bureau by other accredited credit providers and service providers

The law reforms (Miscellaneous amendments) ACT-2023: It provides for the amendment of several laws to correct anomalies in those laws and to affect the decisions of the constitutional court and the Supreme Court, repeals specified acts to conform with decisions of court and other more recent laws.
