The Opposition National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) party has tasked the government to investigate the alleged poisoning of prominent people, which they say is on the rise.

NEED Secretary General Asuman Odaka said this during the press briefing on Monday, July 24, 2023, while eulogising the late former Makindye East MP Hussein Kyanjo.

Odaka said the government should consider setting up an independent commission to inquire into the continued poisoning claim.

According to Odaka, the late Ex-MP Kyanjo had revealed to him that he was poisoned but requested that he never talk about it in public as it could incite violence.“Dear Hon. Kyanjo, let your spirit hover around people who are fighting to change the situation that you fought for,” he said .

Odaka urged the government to cooperate with the people willing to volunteer information about the matter rather than victimise them. The late former MP Kyanjo passed away last week and was laid to rest on Sunday
