Police Speaks Out On Northern By Pass Burnt Fuel Tanker

Kampala Metropolitan Police has come out to clarify on the the accident which happened Friday about 11am at Naalya near Bethany High school along Northern by pass in Namugongo division Kira Municipality Wakiso district.

Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, said it involved a motor vehicle registration UAW 641D Fuso blue carrying both petrol and diesel belonging to Don Uganda LTD which was knocked by an overlapping M/V Reg. No UBD 202B Legacy driven by a yet to be identified driver.

The Fuso was being driven by one Mpalanyi David M/A 35 years old, resident of Nansana.

The rear tyres of the Fuso came off and it overturned hence catching fire.

“Nobody was injured. Police fire brigade visited the scene to put out the fire.”

Owoyesigyire said the motor vehicle involved specifically the Legacy has been towed away to Kiira Police Station.

The Fuso wreckage is still stuck at the scene with efforts to tow it away underway.

“Investigations into the matter are still ongoing.”
