The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has condemned the actions of the Director of Wamala Mixed Secondary School in Mpambire, Mpigi District.
Hasadu Wamala is alleged to have defiled students at the school over a long period of time until he was recently apprehended and charged in court. He was later released on court bail before the President intervened and asked a team from State House to investigate the matter. Since then, several students have come out to say that the school head forced them into having sex.
In her communication to the House on Tuesday, Kadaga said that Wamala’s actions constitute gross abuse of office.
“A person who appears to have established the school so that he could access free sex from his students means that his conduct is an act of gross abuse of office and authority, “ Kadaga said.
The Speaker called on the Ministry of Education headed by Minister Janet Museveni to take punitive action against Wamala.
“I implore the state to make a very clear example of him by cancelling his license and barring him from ever establishing or running a school where he can access students,” Kadaga added.
She added that Wamala ought to face serious sanctions within the penal code once the legal process has been completed.
