Pain And Weeping As UPDF Recruits……

Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) has kicked off its ten-day country wide recruitment exercise of healthy and energetic youth.

The recruitment which is happening concurrently at Kololo Airstrip, Kotido, Lyantonde, Arua and Hoima started on December 27.

However, there is pain and weeping as young boys and girls who had turned up for the recruitment of senior four and senior six leavers into the UPDF are disqualified on various grounds.

During the exercise candidates are involved in vigorous activities that include verification of documents, oral tests,10km road run and a general medical check up.

The Kololo Airstrip center is recruiting candidates from Kampala and sorrounding Districts of Wakiso and Mpigi.

According to Lt. Col. Henry Obbo, the Spokesperson of the UPDF Land Forces, the exercise that will run until January 5th, 2019 targets to recruit 4,000 people.

Prospective applicants must be Ugandan aged between 18 and 25 years (regular recruits) while professional recruits are required to be between 18 and 30 years. They must present Senior Four and Six Certificates with a bias in science subjects while professionals must possess diplomas and degrees in chemistry, software engineering, medicine and mechanical engineering and among other courses.
