The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) have announced the lethal shooting of two suspected rebels linked to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) and apprehended their commander within the Kibale Forest National Park in Kamwenge district.

Gen. Felix Kulayigye, UPDF spokesperson, verified the incident during an interview with the Kampala Dispatch. He noted that these rebels had escaped during the SHUJA operation in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), emphasizing the ongoing efforts to neutralize the threat in the area.

Meanwhile, President Yoweri Museveni has listed the names of Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels killed by the UPDF in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

“We have been carrying out air attacks on the terrorists in Congo. We normally identify those targets by both technical and human intelligence,” said President Museveni in a statement on Wednesday 13, December 2023.

“Using those means, you can know that many terrorists were killed. However, you will not know who, until human sources bring in their reports,” he added.

President Museveni said the UPDF has killed over 200 terrorists in attacks carried out in Eastern DR Congo.

“Here below are the names of the people who died in the attack on the 16th of September, 2023. About 200 of them died. Since that time, other attacks have been carried out.”

“We do not know whether these are their real names. Those are, however, the names they are known by in their terrorist circles,” President Museveni concluded in his statement.
