Following the Presidential directive, detectives attached to the unit working together with police yesterday arrested Constables Francis Mpande and Noah Massajjage, who were in charge of the patrol exercise that allegedly beat up a pregnant woman Mercy Nakate 23, a resident of kinumbiro village, Busega in Rubaga, Kampala. They accused her of failure to follow orders against crowding in bars and public spaces.
Also arrested was Asiimwe Junior, a member of a Local Defence Unit (LDU).

On learning of the incident, the President directed Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema, the head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit to investigate the matter.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga confirmed the arrests, saying the suspects were detained at Nateete Police Station as they await to be charged.
Ms. Nakate was also taken for further medical examination and care by a team led by the Director Police Health Services, Dr. Moses Byaruhanga. They will attend to her until she gives birth.
