This year’s highly anticipated Legends of Sound Afrigo at 50 concert is expected to attract thousands of people to celebrate the music of Uganda’s most enduring and popular band.

Speaking during a news conference, Aly Allibhai, the CEO of Talent Africa Group, said that unlike the previous two editions, which were held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, this year’s performance will take place on Saturday, August 16, at the more spacious Millennium Grounds.

This change is in recognition of Afrigo Band’s large and loyal following, as well as the achievement of being Uganda’s most iconic musical ensemble for half a century.

“We are going to Millennium Grounds because we want Ugandans to have enough space to dance and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime celebration,” he said.

The Afrigo at 50 concert promises to be the cultural and musical highlight of the year, with an all-star lineup of Afrigo Band legends, including Moses Matovu, Rachel Magoola, Joanita Kawalya, Herbert Kiggundu, Sarah Namulondo, and Charles Busuulwa.

Adding to the excitement, legendary Congolese superstar Koffi Olomidé, the King of Ndombolo, will grace the stage as a special guest performer along with the phenomenal Abeka Band.

To enhance the experience, Stanbic Bank—through its innovative digital platform, FlexiPay—will enable fans to buy discounted tickets. Stanbic Bank says FlexiPay is not just an ordinary ticketing platform but a digital lifestyle solution designed to simplify life when making purchases.

*”As the official ticketing partner, FlexiPay is ensuring that purchasing tickets for Afrigo@50 is seamless, safe, and rewarding. Fans can now buy their tickets at discounted rates via the FlexiPay App or by dialing 291# on any mobile network,” said Lois Kwikiriza, Brand and Marketing Manager at Stanbic Bank Uganda.

She described the partnership with Afrigo Band as a continuation of the bank’s commitment to empowering Ugandans to access smart and secure financial solutions while enjoying life without the hurdles associated with cash transactions.

Kwikiriza added, “I want to call upon Ugandans to use FlexiPay for purchasing tickets and also keep some money on the app so they can purchase food and beverages at the venue. We shall be running massive discounts and happy-hour activations all night long.”

Tickets are now available via FlexiPay, with Bronze tickets going for UGX 50,000 (discounted from UGX 60,000) and Silver at UGX 100,000 (discounted from UGX 120,000). Premium experiences await those opting for the Gold, Diamond, or Platinum tables, priced at UGX 3,000,000, UGX 5,000,000, and UGX 10,000,000 respectively.
