City Gambler one Denis Kasibante has dragged Betpawa to the regulator of the Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board after winning three bets equalling to shs 250m.

Through his lawyers the Mwesigwa Rukutana and company advocates,Kasibante alleges that on Saturday, August 2023, he placed three bets, winning all the three worth Shs 159 million, 1.1 million and 73 million respectively.

The monies were credited to his accounts. However, in a turn of events, the moneies were reversed and all bets cancelled.

“Our client complained to BetPawa but in vain.. To date, no explanation has been given to our client, hence this complaint. The actions against BetPawa against our client suffice to predatory dealing and breach of contract,” Mwesigwa Rukutana and Company Advocates writes.

The law firm’s letter to the Board is dated September 1, 2023. It was received at the Board on September 4, 2023.

“Pursuant to Section 40 (2) of the Lotteries and Gaming Act, 2016, we request that you defray the statutory security bond of BetPawa and pay our client a sum of Ugx. 234,194652 …being the total sum of the bets that our client placed and won against betPAWA.”

In addition, the law firm wants an additional Shs 20 million as professional fees.

Our efforts to talk to Betpawa and the regulator were futile by press time as their well known public contacts were not going through.
