The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, today held a meeting with His Excellency Matthias Schauer, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uganda.

The meeting serves as a reaffirmation of the longstanding bilateral relations between the Republic of Uganda and the Federal Republic of Germany.

The discussions, held at the Special Forces Command headquarters, centered on a wide range of areas of mutual interest and issues related to the continued growth of the Uganda-Germany partnership. Both officials engaged in forward-looking dialogue on enhancing cooperation across several sectors, underscoring a shared vision for a deeper and more collaborative relationship. The engagement follows Ambassador Schauer’s previous meeting with His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, reflecting the continuity and high-level importance of the bilateral relationship between Uganda and Germany.

General Kainerugaba and Ambassador Schauer reviewed the historical context of the bilateral relations, which have been characterized by diplomacy, development cooperation, and mutual respect. The conversation highlighted the desire of both nations to build upon this strong foundation and explore new avenues for mutual cooperation.

Ambassador Matthias Schauer commended Uganda’s active role in regional affairs and reiterated Germany’s commitment to its partnership with Uganda. He highlighted the potential for further collaboration in various areas.
Both parties further agreed to address any differences through continued diplomatic dialogue and mutual understanding.

This high-level meeting underscores a joint commitment from both Kampala and Berlin to not only maintain but actively enhance the healthy and productive ties that define Uganda-German relations.
