President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged government support to Kamagwa Hospital and a proposed legacy museum in honor of Emmanuel Wamala.

The President met Cardinal Wamala and praised his contribution to faith and social transformation in Uganda.

In a statement shared on his official X account, Museveni said government will support the Cardinal Wamala Family Foundation’s Kamagwa Hospital while it remains a private facility. He added that the Ministry of Tourism will back the establishment of a museum to preserve the Cardinal’s legacy.

“I was pleased to meet His Eminence Emmanuel Wamala and commend him for his contribution to faith and social transformation in Uganda,” Museveni said. “We agreed that government will support his family foundation’s Kamagwa Hospital, while it remains a private facility, and that the Ministry of Tourism will support the establishment of a museum to preserve his legacy.”

At the Cardinal’s request, Museveni accepted to serve as Patron of the project. “I wish him good health and God’s blessings as he marks 99 years,” the President added.

Cardinal Wamala, a former Archbishop of Kampala, ranks among Uganda’s most senior Catholic clerics. He has played a central role in church leadership and public life for decades.

The planned museum will document his life and service. Support to Kamagwa Hospital aims to strengthen health services for surrounding communities.
