The spirit of color, joy, and cultural unity filled the air as thousands gathered at the Millennium Grounds Lugogo in Kampala for one of the most vibrant Holi celebrations ever held in Uganda.

Organized by the Rajasthani Association in conjunction with the Indian Association of Uganda, in partnership with the Indian High Commission Uganda, the Festival of Colors was headlined by main sponsor Kansai Plascon, continuing the company’s longstanding commitment to supporting cultural celebration and community connection.

The event brought together thousands of people to share in a celebration that symbolizes renewal, unity, and the triumph of good over evil.

From the moment festivities began, the grounds transformed into a vibrant landscape of dance and colour.

Clouds of bright gulal and abir filled the sky as participants joyfully sprayed and smeared colored powders on one another, embracing Holi’s playful tradition of dissolving social boundaries through shared celebration.

Children ran through bursts of colour and water, families gathered in laughter, and friends greeted one another with cheerful smears of pigment, each shade symbolizing emotion and meaning love, vitality, renewal, and hope.

The atmosphere was enriched with traditional Indian cuisine, music, and communal celebration, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Indian diaspora in Uganda while welcoming participation from across the broader public.

As in Holi traditions observed around the world, the celebration marked the end of winter and the beginning of spring, symbolizing rebirth, renewal, and the enduring victory of positivity over negativity.

One of the most breathtaking moments of the day came when a helicopter from the Uganda Police Force flew low over the celebration grounds, releasing a cascade of flower petals onto the jubilant crowd below.

The dramatic aerial display created a magical visual spectacle as petals drifted through the colour, drawing cheers, applause, and awe from attendees.

The moment captured the spirit of the festival perfectly and quickly became one of the defining highlights of the 2026 celebration.

Music played a central role in energizing the festival, with electrifying live performances from internationally recognized Indian artists.

Mumbai-based singer, lyricist, and digital creator Pallavi Dabholkar captivated audiences with her versatile vocal range and dynamic stage presence.

She brought emotional depth and vibrant energy to the celebration, seamlessly connecting traditional musical expression with modern performance style.

Sharing the stage was Parleen Singh Gill, an accomplished singer, songwriter, and live performer widely recognized for his appearance as a finalist on Indian Idol Season 3. Gill delivered a high-energy performance that blended charisma, vocal power, and audience engagement, keeping festivalgoers dancing and singing along throughout the day.

Excitement continued to build with the much-anticipated raffle draw, where lucky attendees walked away with a range of prizes, including tickets to India and TV sets.

The prizes were officially presented by Kansai Plascon Managing Director Santosh Gumte. His presence highlighted Kansai Plascon’s role not only as the main sponsor of the 2026 celebration but also as a long-standing partner of the Indian community in Uganda.

He expressed pride in supporting a festival that embodies unity, vibrancy, and shared joy, emphasizing that Kansai Plascon’s involvement reflects its broader commitment to meaningful community engagement and cultural exchange.

He noted that Holi offers a powerful opportunity to celebrate diversity while strengthening relationships across communities, aligning closely with the company’s vision of building lasting connections wherever it operates.
