MP Mwijukye Survives Lynching By Church Land Grabbers

Buhweju County Member of Parliament, Honorable Francis Mwijukye of the Forum for Democratic Change Party, was on Sunday afternoon pelted with stones and left injured by his constituents while attempting to address land conflicts in the area.

According to a statement issued by Deo Atuhaire Omuhatizi, the Chairperson of Buhweju District, Hon. Mwijukye was attacked by a group of individuals involved in land grabbing in the Rwanyamabare-Nyakishana Sub County. The attackers pelted him with stones, causing injuries.

Omuhatizi further mentioned that law enforcement intervened swiftly, evacuating Hon. Mwijukye from the scene.

Currently, he is under medical care in a hospital whose identity is yet to be disclosed.

Omuhatizi urged the constituents and the general public to maintain composure as the authorities pursue those responsible for the attack.By source
