The deputy Government Spokesperson Col Shaban Bantariza has warned the people to stop fighting for power noting that Power is not a charity to be given to anyone who wants to use it.

He made the remarks during the recent president’s great trek walk where Museveni was leading veterans, youth and well-wishers in a 60mile (100km) symbolic trek from Galamba in Wakiso District to Birembo in Kibaale District to celebrate freedom fighters’ heroic sacrifices for patriotism.

Bantariza noted that it is fine for the opposition to cause the alarm of change in the country but National Resistance Movement (NRM) will not go anywhere.

Bantariza noted that the ruling regime has governed the people of Uganda so well therefore they deserve more time to continue reviving the country.

“The truth is that NRM is not the first political entity to take over power in Uganda. There were others before us – but how did they use it?” Bantariza queried.

He said that those who want to take over power from NRM do not know what power is.

“The power that is in the NRM now is very precious power. It is something we paid a high price for,” he said.
