3 Activists Ask Court To Dismiss Case Of Unlawful Assembly

Three Civil Society Activists who were arrested from Hotel Elyana in Ntinda in connection to Anti-corruption protests that were held in Kampala last month; want the City Hall Court to dismiss the charge of Taking Part in Unlawful Assembly that was slapped against them.

Pato Denis, Kalenda Abigail and Nalunkuma Ruth in company of their Lawyer Paul Wasswa say that what happened to them on the fateful day; 24th/July/2024 was an infringement on their freedom of expression because they were arrested for simply holding a press conference intended to calm down the protestors.

The trio who are affiliated with the Youth-Focused Organisation- Vijana Corps made the statements as they had reported back to Court today for mention of their case.

However City Hall Court presiding Senior Magistrate Grade One Karakire Edgar has informed them and their Lawyer that 29th/August/2024
