Western Uganda’s prominent blogger and filmmaker, Busiinge Aggrey, is embroiled in a bitter dispute with his former employer, Vision Films, over unpaid wages and control of a YouTube channel.

Sources confirmed to The Capital Times  that Busiinge is demanding 3.2 million Ugandan shillings in unpaid salary for services rendered during his two-year tenure with the company. Having worked for a modest wage due to Vision Films’ initial financial constraints as a startup, he claims his repeated requests for payment over eight months were ignored.

The conflict escalated when Busiinge took control of the YouTube channel he created and managed without compensation. Upon learning of the takeover, Vision Films’ owner, Ashaba Oscar, confronted Busiinge at his Hoima Road office, demanding login details and threatening police involvement.

When officers arrived, Busiinge was absent but later presented himself at the station. He defended his actions, stating, “I took the channel until the company clears my dues. I created it, filmed, edited, and uploaded all content—without pay.”

Busiinge expressed frustration over his employer’s refusal to settle the debt while funding other ventures. “He finances his businesses but won’t pay me. When I begged for my money, he’d give amounts so small it hurt,” he told police offer Ogwal.

Reports suggest Busiinge may sell or retain the channel if his demands remain unmet by October 8, 2020.

At the police station, Ashaba reportedly sought access to the channel without addressing the salary dispute. Busiinge argued that retaining the channel was his only leverage: “If I’d left empty-handed, how would I reclaim my money?”

The matter was deemed a civil case, with police advising court action—a move Busiinge supported.
