Good Move! Ministers Butime, Kajara Hand Over Controversial Shs20m To Kyenjojo District Covid-19 Task-Force

The Cabinet Minister of Local Government Tom Butime and State Minister of Finance for Privatization Aston Kajara of Bwenge Central and South respectively have handed over the controversial Covid-19 Shs 20 millions each to the Kyenjojo District task force.

The Money was officially received by the Kyenjojo District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Mr. Samuel Ruhweza Kaiza on Monday May, 4 2020.

The Ministers said, the decision to give money to the District taskforce was after consulting their voters, elders and above all the guidance of his excellency, President Yoweri Museveni.

“It is unfortunate that the country is currently at war with one of the most dangerous enemies against our lives, the coronavirus. we also recognize the need to support government in meeting it’s fair share across all fronts (security, health, and social services/welfare), having received the 20m, with the guidance of his excellency and our voters, me and my friend here have decided to bring it to the District taskforce to help our people especially the vulnerable than returning it,” Hon. Butime said.
“We love our Bwenge people, and we’ve not forgotten you yet, we shall continue to share the little we have with the people of Bwenge like we have always been doing. Together we can, ” Said Min. Kajara.
 But Who Are These Two Powerful Gentlemen?

Guys, Hon. Min. Tom Butime is not an ordinary Ugandan, Born in 1947, he is the Cabinet Minister of Local Government in the Ugandan Cabinet. He concurrently serves as the elected representative for Mwenge County Central, Kyenjojo District, in the 10th Ugandan Parliament (2016–2021).

He served as State Minister for Communications from 13 January 2005 until February 2006. After the general elections in February 2006, he was named State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, a posting he declined to assume.

Previously, Butime was the Minister of Internal Affairs from July 6, 1996 to July 2001, and he also served as Minister of State for Refugees and Disaster Preparedness during that time. From 2001 until a cabinet reshuffle in January 2005, Butime served as Minister of State for International Cooperation and served as acting Foreign Minister from March 2004 to January 2005

Hon. Min. Aston Kajara is a Ugandan lawyer and politician. He is the current State Minister of Finance for Privatization in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011. In the cabinet reshuffle of 1 March 2015, he retained his cabinet post. Prior to that, from 16 February 2009 until 1 March 2015, he served as the State Minister of Finance for Investments. He is also the elected Member of Parliament (MP), representing “Mwenge County South” Kyenjojo District. He has represented that constituency in parliament from 2001 until 2006 and from 2011 until now.

Between 1983 until 1988, Aston Kajara worked in the Ministry of Finance, as a Customs Officer. From 1988 until 1990, he served as Board Member and Company Secretary at Uganda Motors Limited, a Ugandan automobile and industrial machinery distributing company, based in Kampala. Between 1992 and 1995, he served as Principal Revenue Officer at the Uganda Revenue Authority.

In 1994, he was elected to the Constituent Assembly which drafted the 1995 Ugandan constitution. In 1995, he went into private legal practice as a Partner at Kajara, Kabiito & Company Advocates, also in Kampala. He maintained his law practice until 2001.

In 1996 he contested for the parliamentary seat of Mwenge County South in Kyenjojo District. He won and served as the MP that constituency until 2001. In 2002, he became a Legal Consultant at his legal firm whose name had now changed to Kateeba, Runyangira & Kajara Advocates.

In 2006, he regained his parliamentary seat of “Mwenge County South”. He was also appointed State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, serving in that position until his appointment to his current cabinet post in February 2009. In 2011, he was re-elected to parliament.

Other historical members of UPM/NRM in Tooro include Hon. Raphael Bitamazire NRC Kyenjojo, Hon Beatrice Karaso Woman MP Kyaka and Hon. Col. Stephern Basaliza Omudumizi Burahya County.
