The head of Abavandimwe Council in Uganda, Mr. Frank Gashumba has hailed the Bavandimwe and well-wishers who attended the first ever Abavandimwe Carnival Igiteramo which was held on Saturday 3rd January at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

The event was a total success with massive turn up registered. While posting on his social media platforms, Frank Gashumba also announced that due to public demand, the carnival will be an annual event with the second edition slated to take in November this Year.

He also hailed peace and conducive environment brought about by the NRM Government headed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and called on all Ugandans to give M7 one more term on 15th January 2026.

Below is his full statement on the matter;

“I wish to thank everyone who attended the first ever Abavandimwe Carnival that was held last Saturday at Lugogo cricket oval. They said it would never happen, and it happened in a big way. Special thanks go to Fenon events for a job well done. I thank the media, the performing artists and all service providers for the successful Igitaramo carnival, which was not only a celebration of our culture but a celebration of a great achievement over stigma, discrimination and violation of our citizenship rights by narrow minded people.

I wish to thank all the Abavandimwe who showed up from all corners of Uganda, and I thank the many other Ugandans who attended. It was a show of support, solidarity and unity with all fellow Ugandans because we live and hustle with other Ugandans daily and we need each other.
The carnival was also a celebration of the peace and conducive environment brought about by President Museveni that allows all of us to go about our daily business peacefully unlike many other countries whose citizens are seeking refugee in Uganda. We thank God for the peace in Uganda.

Finally, due to the success of our first carnival and due to public demand and our need to promote our culture, unity and the cultures of our fellow Ugandans (you saw how other cultures also performed) the carnival will be held annually and we shall have another carnival in November this year.
Once again, I thank everyone that participated. Happy New Year,” Frank Gashumba shared.
