A delegation from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s government led by Uganda’s ambassador in United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kibedi Zaake, survived being beaten by angry Ugandan girls who are currently being kept in detention centers in Dubai.

State Minister for International Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Henry Okello Oryem has revealed that the delegation went to the detention centers to check on a number of Ugandans mostly girls who are stranded there and to strategise on how they can be helped to come back home.

He explained that when officials in the detention centers allowed the Uganda delegation to meet their people, they called the girls and started introducing themselves to them.

However, they instead started insulting them and abusing them which forced them to leave the place.

In a video clip, the angry girls were heard shouting on top of their voices to Kibedi’s delegations, “You go, who called you to come here, we are tired of you people. Stop publicising our problems for your political capital. We are here because of you greedy people.”

However, Minister Oryem says National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine was the one who incite the innocent girls against government officials.

He explained that president Museveni’s government kicked off the process of rescuing Ugandans stranded in foreign countries a long time ago and the process has been moving well until Bobi Wine politicised the process.

Oryem warned Bobi Wine that he will not take power when he is maliciously using propaganda on national issues because it affects all Ugandans regardless of their political lines.

She couldn’t believe that she’s back home

Bobi Wine however rubbishes Oryem’s allegations and explained that the exercise he launched to repatriate stranded Ugandans back home is not political that’s why people like musician Hajara Namukwaya alias Spice Diana paid for four girls to return home.

“To all fellow Ugandans, this is not political like some people want to paint it. You too can help our people either through us or through anybody else. The objective is to ensure that we put an end to the suffering of so many Ugandans out there,” Bobi Wine said.

Wine added that by Thursday, NUP had helped 41 girls to come back home and the process is still ongoing.

However, sources within NUP revealed that legislators, City and Division mayors and councilors have defied Bobi Wine’s orders to contribute money towards the fundraising exercises to repatriate stranded Ugandans back home.

Bobi Wine in his personal capacity contributed Shs.10m to help with the process but legislators who we talked to disclosed that they don’t have money to spend on such issues because they have also not yet received their salary from parliament.
