Brigadier Charity Bainababo has taken over the office of the Deputy Commander Special Forces, an elite force charged with the security of the President and overseeing the various special operations.

Linda Nabusayi, the senior Presidential press Secretary confirmed that on Tuesday Brig. Gen Bainababo received office and other instruments of power from Brig. David Mugisha.

The ceremony was also witnessed by the Commander SFC, Brig. Felix Busizori among other senior Army officers.

Hon. Bainababo was recently promoted from the rank of a Colonel to Brigadier, a move that has placed her as one of the few senior female Army officers.

Who is Gen Bainababo?

Brig Gen Charity Bainababo started as the ADC (Aide-de-camp) and head of security of First Lady Hon Janet Kataha Museveni who is also the minister of education and sports.

Last year, in April, while at the rank of lieutenant colonel, Brig Gen Charity Bainababo was among the 1300 officers that president Museveni promoted.

Gen Bainababo was hereafter promoted to the rank of colonel, and one year later she was elevated to the next rank of Brigadier General.

She still holds the position as the Police Presidential Guard (PPG) commander, a police unit under the Special Forces Command whose role is to provide security to the First Lady/ first family, very important persons and key security installations in the country.

The mother of two recently applied for a PHD and holds to her name two master’s degrees in information systems management and another one in defense and strategic studies on top of post graduate diploma on information systems management.

She joined the army after graduating from Makerere University. Available information shows Gen Bainababo joined in the same intake with Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the commander land forces and the General Manager for Luwero industries Maj Gen Sabiti Muzeyi.
